Wow, the idea of replaying history is pretty amazing. Has anyone talked about the Sims being DIY cinema? It strikes me that they are like animated movies.

While browsing the Sims 3 message boards I found The Patrician's Villa, a Roman-style home designed by user California Bound. I was surprised to see he had done his ancient architecture homework: the house has an atrium, complete with impluvium (pool) and compluvium, peristyle, and several colonnade. He writes, "OOh the plebians look like little ants from up here!" and posts a total of twelve virtual photographs of the home. There are already six full pages of comments, all from Sim users identified by an image of his/her avatar, the last one dating from 8/21/09. I don't think you can download the home (yet) but he has plenty others available.

I haven't played The Sims in ages and given my love of disappearing into these role/simulation games, I probably won't be forking out the money. But what a huge leap in gaming and virtual reality- stunning graphics and a story line that trumps a lot of current fiction.
Now, if somebody would just update the old Caesar III and Pharaoh/Cleopatra games, I'd be standing in line to buy the first one. I'm a total sucker for the ancient world! Give me palaces, legions, pyramids and slaves!
On the other hand, that sounds a bit like parts of the US now in 2009 AD, not 2009 BC.
