Facebook was definitely on Nick's mind. The funny thing is it brings Facebook into the material world, using the concept in the material world at the same time suggesting the concept has some problems in cyberspace.

I really enjoy the art world fighting back against the FaceBook/MySpace phenomenon. Love the title.

Hi, Austin, Part of the success of the show, besides your enormous energy and production, was the amount of stretch to unknown people. It meant there was no one school of thought or art making, and it meant it wasn't full of insiders. Unless galleries reach beyond their comfort zone like this, they are risking losing the opportunity to reach a broad audience. Nick knew this, and said to me when I dropped by that the opening was great precisely because the crowd was large and wasn't limited to the usual suspects.
Austin, thanks for sharing that link!!!!

Thanks for the nice words Libby! This was a really fun show to participate in. I still have to go back and see everything again before it closes! There were so many portraits that it was hard to see them all! I also think it was a pretty brave show for Nick to put on. There weren't any limitations on size of work or the amount of people that you could invite. Plus once you invited someone they could invite whoever they wanted so it had potential to grow exponentially! Not many curators would take the risk of having a show with so many unknowns!

I have more pictures on my flickr account too if anyone wants to see them!
