It was an unusually fertile September First Friday with shows that interested me all over the place. Sadly, you can only do what you can do, and this is what I did and saw. Congratulations to all the new Knight Arts Challenge winners in this the third year of awards from the Miami-based Knight Foundation. The awards to 43 groups and individuals were announced tonight at a ceremony at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Winners are in all the arts categories — theater, music, dance and visual art. We sallied forth with around a dozen Safari-ites from John Gatti’s Art Now! class at the Barnes Foundation, and saw the art in the Vox Populi building and in Space 1026, with a stop for refreshments at Trestle Inn, where the go go dancers inspired everyone to sing along and wriggle/dance in their seats.
