News post – Penn MFAs in Vienna, ForceField grows closer, the fight to save Dot Art, opportunities and more!

News ForceField is a familiar presence for us, but might not be for anyone others who will be around June 21-22. This vivid two-day art/music/performance experience, boasting 45 multi-disciplinary artists from 7 states, and brought to Philly by Tim Eads and Joe Bartram, is bound to dazzle. They have an amazing lineup of musicians to soundtrack the event – King Britt, Alex Burkat, Hiro Kone, Telequanta, Ryan Todd, Ben Warfield, Mary Lattimore and Jeff Zeigler. With plant-generated visuals designed by NoCarrier and Enso, there’s also the chance to learn what a plantable album is. We can’t say for sure. It ... More » »

News post – Moore’s Galleries get Mohawks, Jim Houser in Italy, Slought and n+1 take on “World Lite,” opportunities and more!

News   Updates from the busy studio of Erin Murray: she’s got new work up! Several Philly street artists are featured in episode 14 of Streetosphere, the French production that chronicles street art everywhere. NoseGo, Ishknits and Justin Tyner (who brought this to our collective attentions) are the artists documented. One moment that we hopefully haven’t forgotten, Ishknits’ infamous yarn-bomb bikini for Frank Rizzo, is included in the piece. Nicole Krom gets a major congrats this week on her new position at Longwood Gardens! As ... More » »

Red Grooms' "Philadelphia Cornucopia."

News post – Nathaniel Popkin’s new novel, act to save a Red Grooms treasure, Duct Tape Murals by Joe Girandola, opportunities and more!

News Our very own Elizabeth Johnson is curator of EDGE VS LINE at Lafayette College, a celebration of what happens when Edge (a sculptural term) meets Line (a term associated with flat art forms). The show features seven Lehigh Valley and two Brooklyn artists, including Dave Henderson, shown above, and closes today, so get there quickly to see it before it’s gone. After about five years of arduous work, Hidden City chronicler Nathaniel Popkin is about to welcome his first novel, Lion and Leopard, into the world. Published this fall by The Head and The Hand Press, the book is ... More » »
