New media art – White Hot Gold at Murray State

[I juried the new media exhibit at Murray State University Art Gallery, up now until Feb. 12. This is the foreword I wrote for the catalog.] What is new media art? The blues report

This is our first really long car trip since we took the kids to the Southwestern U.S. I always have loved place names, the more unfamiliar the better, and the Maryland panhandle and West Virginia and Kentucky are a place name lover’s dream. We drove past the Youghioheny River, Menongelia County and Salt Lick on our way to Lexington for Ben’s graduation from the University of Kentucky medical school.

Blue grass, Blue Ridge

I do not have the blues, but I’m visiting them. I’m not referring to the medical insurers. It’s the blue grass of Kentucky and the Blue Ridge Mountains. In Kentucky, there really is a medical angle; Minna’s Ben is graduating from medical school and we’re all going to celebrate big time.

Back from Lexington
