The biggest  art event this weekend is Sunday, May 3:  Zoe Strauss will exhibit a huge number of photographs–231 of them– under I-95, in South Philadelphia.

This is Strauss’ 9th show there. She committed to doing 10 of them 9 years ago, so it’s almost history. This is the penultimate one. Her work, and this unique outreach to the public, have earned her wide recognition, including a Pew Fellowship, a place in a Whitney Biennial, and shows at Silverstein Gallery in New York.

The show includes 60 new pieces, and a mix of old faves. It will be  1-4 p.m. on the pilasters holding up I-95 at Front and Mifflin streets in South Philadelphia,  free and open to the public.

This is an opportunity to purchase  Strauss photos for $5 each. She will also be selling her book America. Rain or shine, you need to be there. Plus if you haven’t met Strauss herself, she is her own work of art and to know her is to love her.

Thanks for posting this! By the way, Philadelphians should give thanks everyday for the job that you do. Philadelphia benefits tremendously from artblog. I really mean that.

    Love you!
