News PAFA presents the fourth and final installment of The Review Panel Philadelphia on Wednesday, April 3, at 6pm. February’s edition attracted over 100 attendees, and this month’s promises discussions that are sure to entice people into the Hamilton Auditorium. The April panel of critics includes Jennie Hirsh, Katherine Rochester, and Robert Storr. The four local exhibitions, chosen by David Cohen and his panelists are JG: A Film Project by Tacita Dean at Arcadia University Art Gallery; Christine Hiebert at Gallery Joe; Joyce Robins: Ceramic Painting/Painted Ceramic at Rosenwald-Wolf Gallery; and White Petals Surround Your Yellow Heart at the Institute of Contemporary Art. White Petals Surround Your Yellow Heart at the ICA Self-adornment is surely homo sapiens’ first art form: body painting, scarification, tattooing. Garments that offer anything more than basic protection from the elements or environment can be said to participate in that tradition. White Petals Surround Your Yellow Heart at the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA), University of Pennsylvania, through July 28 takes a broad, and as the title’s reference to Ovid suggests, rather poetic view of the subject. News Epochal architect Lebbeus Woods died on Tuesday, October 30 at age 72. He showed at Rosenwald-Wolf Gallery in 1999; we’ll remember his fantastic, eye-opening experimental work, much of which only exists on paper, and his staunch opposition to celebrity architects. This year’s Whitney Biennial, which raised eyebrows for its hodgepodge nature, is continuing in the untraditional vein begun by Elisabeth Sussman and Jay Sanders. For the 2014 Biennial, they’re going with three curators and three showcases, all of which are to be the province of non-New York curators. News: New ICA curator, video art history @ PAFA, opportunities, and more!

News (Inaccurate information has been removed from this post). ICA appoints new curator The Institute of Contemporary Art has appointed Anthony Elms as a new Associate Curator. Elms has worked as an  independent curator and writer, and he was Assistant Director of Gallery 400 at the University of Illinois at Chicago for six years. He replaces Jenelle Porter who has taken a position at ICA Boston.
