News An exciting presentation of works by British artist Tacita Dean is coming to the region this month, to continue throughout the spring. To start with, Arcadia University Art Gallery is hosting Dean’s film JG, inspired by Dean’s correspondence with British author J. G. Ballard. This work employs the same technique seen in FILM, Dean’s 2011 project for Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall, and uses Dean’s recently developed and patented system of aperture gate masking. News Gallery news – Dalet Gallery is partnering with Headlong Dance Theater for a special body performance installation, “Situations for Unlikely Bodies,” a work-in-progress by Sheila Zagar, Jaamil Kosoko and Caroline Stinger of Headlong. The performance is Sunday April 15  — drop in between 7:30pm and 9pm.  Fjord Gallery, 2419 Frankford is a new-to-us Kensington contemporary gallery and studio space started by Lindsay Chandler and three other local artists. opens on the First Friday of May. The Phenomenology of the Craft Craze

The soft strums of an inoffensive acoustic guitar hovered over the booths at the Art Star Craft Bazaar on a correspondingly pleasant day at Penn’s landing.  I have noticed, for a few years now, an upsurge in crafting as a popular cultural phenomenon. Its pervasiveness has resulted in communities of both male and female crafters all over the country who unabashedly enjoy and, more importantly, make a living off of the goods that they create.
