Robert Scobey‘s ironic sculptures of the American Dream have a quirky idealism. This excellent work ends with a bang what was an annual opportunity for an outstanding graduate of the MFA program at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Freeman‘s gave a monetary award to a second-year MFA at PAFA, followed by the opportunity to exhibit a year after graduation. This is the seventh Annual Samuel T. 100 artists, 100 Vader helmets. What began as a simple business strategy has now become an impressive art collection. The Vader Project has been touring since 2007 in places such as California, England and Japan. It also was exhibited at The Andy Warhol Museum in 2009. However, the collections curators and producers, Dov Kelemer and Sarah Jo Marks of DKE Toys, decided that now is the time to sell these works. Before cinema and cinerama and I-Max and panorama cameras, there was the Kaiserpanorama, a sort of multi-peephole device with a stereoscopic slide show. It’s sort of the opposite of painting panoramas, in which the person stands in the middle of a circular landscape, and can scan around, thereby taking in the impression of the space. Locally, there’s one out at the Gettysburg battlefield visitor’s center, depicting the battle.
