Philly rocking the ICA!!! Megawords, the multi-tasking publishers and producers of hard-to-pigeonhole culture, is up to something, although we’re not sure what, as they hang out at the ICA in a show called One is the loneliest number. We know they are thinking about collaboration and that their presence at the ICA includes installation, performances, poetry, theory, video and other programming the Megawordsters have invited. Included in the posse of performers are video (and marriage) collaborators Nadia Hironaka and Matt Suib, also Philly people. The show is April 21 through August 7.

Guggenheim for Daniel Heyman–Iraqis to lunch ladies

Philadelphia artist Daniel Heyman, whose work puts the personal face on politics, war and other injustices, has won a Guggenheim! He is one of 180 Fellows named this year from about 3,000 applicants. The awards go to work in the arts, humanities and sciences.

In its 85th year of awarding fellowships, the Guggenheim Foundation just announced the 2009 winners — 180 fellows from more than 3,000 applicants.  Here’s the full list.  Thanks to Culture Monster for the tip. I scrolled through the list and pulled up the names of winners in Creative Arts/Fine Arts:  Most names are not familiar but I’ve highlighted some I’m familiar with.
