Judith Schaechter, “At her best down on both knees” Stained Glass, 25 x 23 (top) x 19″ bottom. 1997

Artblog pal and awesome artist Judith Schaechter emailed recently to tell us about her new book, “Extra Virgin: The Stained Glass of Judith Schaechter.” The book, published by Free News Projects, a Max Lawrence production out of Space 1026-land, is a hard-back book with 192 pages, many, many (a LOT says Judith) color reproductions and drawings of her dark, brooding works. There’s a foreword by PAFA curator Alex Baker and a step-by-step introduction to the stained glass process told by the artist in her own inimitable part-grouchy, part-loveable, and very funny voice. Quote from Judith’s artist statement at MissionCreep:

I never thought of myself as an artist. The real reason I went to art school was to eliminate phys ed and math from my life.
