Artblog Presents Art Splash at Creative Africa – Philadelphia Museum of Art

Artblog goes to Art Splash, now happening at the Philadelphia Museum of Art in conjunction with the Creative Africa exhibitions. This short video we produced shows families making art, looking at art and talking about art, and has interviews with 3 of the great artists featured in the exhibits. -- Artblog Editor

This summer, Artblog dove into the Philadelphia Museum’s Creative Africa show — and into the wonderful summer program, Art Splash, that introduces moms, dads, and kids of all ages to the great art on view, and facilitates art making by the viewers, right there in the museum.

In a series of four videos, we introduce you to some of the artists of Creative Africa and to some of the families and children who participated in Art Splash when we were there with our cameras.

In this video, listen to the artists speak of their work and see the families respond.

Thank you to our team of Jennifer Zarro, Project Manager, Eli Laban, videographer and video editor, and Arielle Alterwaite, video and photo assistant, all of whom did a great job of capturing the people, action, words, and art. Eli wrangled the many hours of film footage into 4 beautiful and compelling narratives.

Special thank you to our series sponsor, Mari Shaw, Artblog contributor and art lover, whose passion for Art Splash and for children as the future art lovers of the world, was the germination of this project.

Look for the next video, focusing on Burkina Faso-born, Berlin-based architect, Francis Kere, coming up soon!
