POST, Where Will You Go?

In this sponsored post, The Center for Emerging Visual Arts tells us about their 18th annual Philadelphia Open Studio Tours (POST) taking place this October.

Philadelphia, a city of neighborhoods—clusters of communities each with its own flavor and flare. Wander the streets to find the latest craft brewery in Fishtown or hottest restaurant in East Passyunk, a plethora of galleries and museums from Old City to Fairmount, and South Philadelphia enlivened by playgrounds, bocce, yoga, and even swing dancing. Yet an entire community is buzzing just beyond the charming storefronts and green spaces that pepper these streets.

This October, discover Philadelphia’s creative gems— artist studios, house galleries, and community workshops as our city’s visual artists throw open their doors during the Center for Emerging Visual Artists’ (CFEVA) 18th annual Philadelphia Open Studio Tours (POST). Explore studios and experience the unknown, off-the-beaten-path workspaces of artists who weave their passion and craft into everyday life. Drop in for an artist talk at a gallery, strike up a conversation with someone new in a studio building or head over to the Schuylkill Center for Environment Education to meet the newest LandLab Resident Artists.

POST makes connecting with local artists easy through a self-guided, easy-to-navigate tour over two consecutive weekends. Kick off your travels with the makers at 1241 Carpenter Street and the Resident Artists at Glen Foerd on the Delaware, close out your experience by chatting with CFEVA Fellow Colette Fu at the Bebe Benoliel Gallery before making your way over to studio spaces in West Philadelphia. Whatever path you decide, POST is guaranteed to inspire and surprise.

Philadelphia Open Studio Tours runs October 7, 8, 14 & 15. For participating artists and locations, visit the Philadelphia Open Studios website.
