New art show on WHYY TV

Finally, WHYY does some local visual arts coverage in a program called “Friday Arts” which will air on first Fridays of the month.  And Judith Schaechter, who is smart and funny and makes fabulous art, is a great choice for the lead-off interview.  Thanks, UArts newsletter for the heads-up (Judith teaches at UArts).  Judith’s program airs tomorrow night, April 2, at 8:30 pm.  Got an idea for something that should be covered, send them an email!  fridayarts@whyy.org

As Inky TV Critic Jonathan Storm pointed out in his story about this new monthly show, WHYY has scheduled this on First Friday. You just have to wonder.
    So it’s a DVR alert!!
Don’t expect much visual art on this show, although it’s encouraging that they are leading with Judith. The show will include culinary arts, etc. Here’s the link to Storm’s story: http://www.philly.com/inquirer/magazine/89666942.html
There’s no saying how long this link is good for, but if you’re reading this after April 2010, don’t even both trying.

oops, i didn’t know there was an inquirer story today. well it’s shameful WHYY doesn’t cover more visual art. Both on the radio and tv. Any new coverage is good, even if it’s sandwiched between cooking and inspirational community stuff. I want to say that the person in charge of the visual arts segment is characterized as “deeply involved” in the art world. Where? In Philly? Never heard of him.

  3. Hi and thank you for the mention!
Michael O’Reilly, the person described as “deeply involved in the art world” is a local film maker. I would say he is deeply involved–but perhaps more from the film angle than, say, painting. Not to mention he’s a stand-up really nice person! His interview with me was really inspiring–great questions. Dunno how it comes off edited…!

thanks for the clarification, Judith! Can’t wait to see it. I’m know you’re brilliant, edited or not.

I can’t wait! Judith is brilliant!
