The triumph of art in Washington, D.C.

Got this email from fellow blogger and artist J.T. Kirkland:

Most have you probably have not heard about “Supple.” Supple is an art show that I curated and scheduled it to be mounted at the same time that the ArtDC international art fair occurs in D.C. That is, April 26-29. Well, the fair is actually from April 27-30, but Supple was to be open from April 26-29.

…Over this past weekend, the show was cancelled by the owners of The Space, the location donated to me for the show. I sent out a press release announcing the cancellation and posted the news on my blog. This all happened Sunday night. By noon on Monday emails poured in offering support. I even received three offers of a new space in which to mount the show. The outpouring of supprot was astounding and I am pleased to say that Supple will happen! It’ll be at the Warehouse Gallery on 7th St. NW from April 26 to May 12.

See the attached image for details (print it out and come see the show!). Supple includes some fantastic artists:

Colby Caldwell
Graham Caldwell
Mary Early
Adam Fowler
James Huckenpahler
Kevin Kepple
Laurel Lukaszewski
Linn Meyers
Adrian Parsons
Robin Rose
Matt Sargent

If you have time and want to read longer versions of my ordeal and the triumph of a close-knit artistic community, see the following links:

Additionally, I’m excited to share that Supple was mentioned prominently today in the Washington Post as part of their online “Going Out Gurus” section

If you live in or near D.C. I hope you’ll come see the show.

Thanks!

J.T.
