What we want to see Friday

Here’s a few things we’re interested in seeing this crisp, clear and cold Friday night. Check the Funnel Pages for times.

222 Gallery

John Freeborn pulled together an exhibit Big Kids Little Kids based on his book by the same name, at 222 Gallery.
John Freeborn pulled together an exhibit Big Kids Little Kids based on his book by the same name, at 222 Gallery.

John Freeborn’s book Big Kids Little Kids has exploded into the real world as an exhibit. Artists featured in the book (many Space 1026ers and others who’ve shown at 222 Gallery, Spector and elsewhere over the last 8 years) will be in the show. Book signing at the opening includes 50 books with dust covers specially printed by Andrew Jeffrey Wright.

Screening Gallery
Adam Putnam at Screening
Video still from Adam Putnam’s shadowroom II at Screening Gallery.

Don’t forget the wonderful Screening Video gallery tucked inside Vox Populi when you’re there First Friday. This month has Adam Putnam’s shadowroom II focused on empty interior architectural space in Warhol-like slowness that gives you time to ruminate on voids of all kinds. Sounds trippy. Putnam will be in the 2008 Whitney Biennial, so catch him first at Screening.

While you’re there, you can check out Vox Pop’s guest curated Fact or Friction–about stretching and tinkering with historical facts and situations. Very Stephen Colbert!! Includes work from 20 artists from around the world–Norway, Italy, the UK, Venezuela, Sweden and the USA.
