FJORD is soon to be a source of collaborative goodness, thanks to Ted Gahl and Gregory Kalliche. Joining together once again for this summer’s “Lines Like Legs,” the two artists present installations of their works, all of which were conceived and assembled separately as part of Gahl and Kalliche’s ongoing PAT project. The show opens August 1 from 6-9 PM.

Rachel Pastan, writer of the Institute of Contemporary Art’s Miranda blog is departing for greener pastures. Since masterminding Miranda in 2010 as ICA’s Staff Writer, Rachel’s served as Editor-at-Large since 2012 and authored three novels, most recently Alena. Now, she’s taking off to pursue her incredible fiction writing career even further.We wish her luck in her near future, and for the blog to find a new writer very soon. As a farewell of sorts, here’s this week’s Miranda entry, Closing Day.

The Cranbrook Educational Community Board of Trustees just announced this week that they’ve chosen Christopher Scoates as Director of Cranbrook Academy of Art and Art Museum. He begins his tenure August 1, 2014.

Madi Pignetti, one of the founders of collective girlswholikeart, brings us news that they’re holding an all-women art show-slash-zine release to take place on August 8 and 10 at lavaspace in West Philadelphia. ladelphia. Aiming for greater exposure for Philadelphia’s female artists and a safe space for women, transmen and transwomen, the shows run from 7PM-10PM and boast a wide range of photography, collage, watercolor, and other art forms. Opportunities

Visit Philly wants your Phillysophical musings – that is, they’re encouraging folks to partake in their latest contest. Through August 3, if you visit them on Facebook or their website, choose one of six Phillyosophy lines and then upload a photo of your own that goes well with the line of their choice. The best photo pairings, as well as the ones that do Philly the proudest, get to appear on the Visit Philly Facebook page and website, where the public can view the billboards and vote for their favorite from August 11-17. In addition to seeing his or her photo on a billboard, the winner also receives a suite of prizes that includes a stay at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel, transportation reimbursement and gift certificates for Starr Restaurants, the Barnes Foundation, Reading Terminal Market and Open House home and gift shop. Why wait?! We certainly won’t, with a prize package like that…

Leicester Print Workshop, a regional centre for Fine Art Printmaking based in the East Midlands of England, is offering a post-graduate level Lithography Fellowship. The program, which encompasses one-on-one teaching, free studio access for two years and a materials stipend, asks artists to design and execute a project with a 500-pound fee provided by the Workshop. The Fellowship begins in April 2015, and the deadline for applications is Friday, September 26, 2014. Guerrero Gallery in San Francisco is playing host to about twenty artists as a part of “At Home With…”, and a sizable majority of them are Philly folks. Alex Lukas, Steve Powers, Erin Riley and more are included. The show opened on July 26, and it’ll be open until August 23.

Philly-based curator A.M. Weaver (who has a post on Artblog this Sunday!) is one of 5 curators selected for a fabulous public art event in D.C. public art event. The 5×5 Project features Don Camp, Larry Cook, Isaac Diggs, Michael Platt and Stan Squirewell, all of whom are known for their photographic series of black men.
