All week long, Temple is celebrating its Arts Fest, so the work of its students is going to be displayed, mounted and performed all over campus for folks to see. First up is The Hatchery, the Tyler Design Incubator created to promote entrepreneurship. Opening on Thursday, March 26, 11:30 am in the Tyler School of Art Lobby, actual student projects are going to be available for purchase. It may not seem like it after the latest wintry blast, but we are in fact due for some warmer weather and Taller Puertorriqueño has not forgotten that. Together with Tropicalismo (DJs Juanderful aka Juan Bustamante and Gregzinho aka Greg Scruggs), they’re throwing a dance party on Friday, March 27 at 7 PM, their own celebration of Carnaval’s costumes, music, food, and fun. This joyous event is the capper for Filadelfia, Taller PR’s exhibition wherein a group of Philly Latino artists discuss new perspectives on living in the city.

Celebrate IS Day with Grounds for Sculpture, the International Sculpture Center and Oliver Herring this year? Of course. In collaboration with Grounds For Sculpture, the ISC is hosting an improvisational art party with Oliver Herring on April 24 from 6-10 PM. Participants write, interpret, and select tasks to construct the environment. In addition to all the creative activity, there’s going to be dancing, making new friends, and more. Registration is free and open to the public, with more information, including information on shuttles from Philadelphia, available on their website.

The Design Principles and Practices community is calling for papers for the Tenth International Conference on Design Principles and Practices to be held February 25-27, 2016 at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. With an April 25 deadline, submissions from a variety of disciplines and perspectives are welcome. They encourage faculty and research students to jointly submit proposals for discussing design principles and practices through one of the following themes: Conference Themes: Design Education; Design in Society; Designed Objects; Visual Design; Design Management and Professional Practice; Architectonic, Spatial, and Environmental Design.

2. Conception Gallery is currently seeking submissions from artists and photographers for ‘Woman Up,’ a show celebrating the history and accomplishments of women past and present. Due March 27, artists are invited to submit work inspired by or featuring women that have inspired their personal journeys as well as work that depicts the political, cultural and ethical challenges faced by women, both past and present. If you’ve ever wanted to be a Guinness contender, this is also an ideal scenario for you: Conception has put in a Guinness Book of World Records application and this project is an attempt to break the record for the ‘Largest Art Event in celebration of Women’s History Month’. Selected artists are invited to attend the show in person or have their work displayed digitally during the event. For consideration, please email work to info@conceptionevents.com, and be sure to include dimensions, contact information (email address) and if you are able to attend in person or wish to display work digitally. Please note, if selected, a $30 curation/production fee applies.
