8-panel comic part of the series Socialist Grocery by Oli Knowles. Panel 1: Sebastian narrates, “So, my live-in partner Maggie is out of work with 3 herniated discs. It’s been like this for weeks. Maggie sitting in bed says, “Bye! Text me all the hot gossip.” Panel 2: Sebastian continues to narrate, “Maggie is pretty private, and didn’t tell anyone at the grocery store what happened. Neither did I. So everyone took a guess. Panel 3: A coworker stops Sebastian, “Hey, Sebastian.” Panel 4: The co-worker says, “I heard Maggie got mugged.” Sebastian corrects, “No.” Panel 5: Another co-worker says, “I heard Maggie got hit by a car.” Sebastian corrects, “No.” Panel 6: Another co-worker says, “I heard Maggie got shot.” Sebastian corrects, “No.” Panel 7: Yet another co-worker says, “I heard Maggie is quarantined with a rare disease.” Sebastian corrects, “No.” Panel 8: The last co-worker says, “I heard Magg-,” but before they can continue Sebastian says, “Okay before you say anything. Here’s what happened. The city’s Thomas Jefferson impersonator got a job here in the morning. I guess he wasn’t making enough doing that. Maggie trained him and just lifted a box wrong. It’s not that exciting.”
