Da Vinci Art Alliance (DVAA) is accepting applications to their Fellowship & Residency Programs! Three DVAA Fellows will be awarded a stipend, a 3-week long exhibition, a 3-year membership at DVAA, and more. Ten DVAA Artists-in-Residence will get 24-hour studio access for one month each, plus, a year-long professional development program for all! Kristal Sotomayor on ‘Expanding Sanctuary,’ an Added Velocity Spotlight Interview

Kristal Sotomayor is the subject of our fifth and final Added Velocity 2021-2022 spotlight interview series! Her project “Expanding Sanctuary” was first funded through Velocity Fund in 2020, and now with $15,000 in additional funding through Added Velocity, she will further her 26-minute documentary “about the campaign to end the sharing of the police database with Immigration and Customs Enforcement led by Juntos and the Latinx immigrant community in South Philly.” Learn more below!

We got a note from Craig Scheihing of Big Mama’s Cinematheque introducing us to the “artist-run film lab, a venue for contemporary avant-garde filmmakers to share their work, and a classroom / workshop space for individuals interested in working with 16mm film.” Wonderful! I’m delighted to know there is a hotbed of alternative or experimental filmmakers here!
