Man Bartlett traded in performing in front of a live audience for reaching his audience via social media. In our interview, he ponders the archiving of Twitter tweets, shopping for 24 hours straight at Best Buy, and how to connect ordinary city life to a mind-blowing experience with a shaman in Peru. Bartlett, born in Philadelphia (his father is painter Bo Bartlett), has lived in Chicago, traveled the world, and has a studio in Brooklyn. Bartlett will also be creating a site-specific work for the show #The Social Graph, which bills itself as an exploration of social media art. Twitter birds are already out in full force for this one, curated by art blogger Hrag Vartanian. It runs from Nov. 12 – 27. (Hey we have to get in that Brent Burkett and William Powhida are participants, too). Bartlett is also in an open-call show, COMVIDEO at apexart in New York. The show of 124 videos, all derived from television commercials, will remain up through Jan. 15.
