Chuck and Iris update

My friends Chuck and Iris got on a plane to Baton Rouge today. (They’ll be back Saturday.) They are hoping to get in to their house to assess damage and collect some of the things they regret not taking with them (Chuck’s photographs and negatives, Iris’s collection of art from her uncle.)

Like all the other evacuees they are in a holding pattern trying to figure out their next move.

(image is Chuck’s photo “National” which you can see bigger here. The image is one of 61 black and white street photos in his set “Old Silver.” I’ve written about Chuck’s photos (here)
.

Here’s what Chuck says about the 61 Old Silvers:

Black and White pictures taken mostly between 1971 and 1989. Scanned from prints that are looking as if they might not stand the test of time. Eventually this set will get big enough to be broken out into sub-sets. In the meantime, everything is all mixed together in no particular order. Practically everything was shot on Tri-X with a Leica M2 and 35mm Summaron. A few with an Olympus OM1 and 50mm Macro. The lighthouse was shot with an unremembered, borrowed 6×6.
