Conflict of interest

New York Times art critic Grace Glueck’s presence on the board of the Clark Art Institute raises conflict of interest issues (read here Tyler Green’s ArtsJournal: Modern Art Notes report).

In the art world, which is so small and in which so many people serve in multiple roles, this is no surprise. We at Artblog find ourselves tripping over our own toes on a regular basis, as when Roberta writes a catalog essay on something, can she then cover the show? Can I and still be fair? We worry about these things but vow full disclosure if we are involved. And if you disagree, we know you’ll comment to keep us in line.
