Sue Spaid‘s MFA students —Erin Arnold, Vincent Balistrieri, Chris Bowne, Rachel Dobkin & Ryan McCartney–in her Interdisciplinary Seminar are holding forth on Empathy Tuesday at the gallery. Spaid, whom Libby and I met through our mutual friend, curator Amy Lipton of Abington Art Center, is a writer, critic, former gallery owner and philosopher. Her interest is on performance-based work and she’s a mighty entertaining speaker herself. Because the world is small, it turns out that Spaid knows the Black Floor gang from her (and their) days in Cincinnati, and BF has enlisted her for a gig at the ICA. She’ll be lecturing on “The Goldfish Test”, Mar. 18 sometime between 11 am and 5 pm.

Adler’s ceramics and other design items are based on his immersion in 1970s-era synagogue design, he says. The designer had a solo exhibit at the gallery at Temple Rodeth Shalom a few years back and he shows works at Matthew Izzo here and Izzo sent around the notice. Watch it at 11 pm Wednesdays.
