Power girl group on a power girl group

Got a link today from artist Josephine Haden of a panel discussion about women who transformed contemporary art, with Eleanor Heartney, Helaine Posner, Nancy Princenthal and Sue Scott.

The discussion is on a book and exhibition–both called After the Revolution: Women Who Transformed Contemporary Art. The discussion is on Fora.tv. The panel members wrote the book (here it is on Amazon.)

They look at the work of Marina Abramowicz, Louise Bourgeois, Ellen Gallagher, Ann Hamilton, Jenny Holzer, Elizabeth Murray, Shirin Neshat, Judy Pfaff, Dana Schutz, Cindy Sherman, Kiki Smith, and Nancy Spero, and their impact on contemporary and younger artists.

The discussion took place at the New School back in October.

It’s pretty great, full of critical ideas as well as information about the vagaries of recognition and the market place. Look when you have some time. It’s about an hour and 3/4.
