I’d been hoping for a rainbow yesterday. It had been rainy and sunny all day long, perfect conditions. Then at about 7 pm I got a call from Oona who was in her car nearby saying to look outside because there it was a huge and perfect rainbow. I ran out and my neighbors, Hedy and Gene, were already out there. Gene pointed out that it was a double rainbow and then said did we know that the colors in the double rainbow were the reverse of each other. Hmmmm. Guess we didn’t know that. Something having to do with the number of water droplets in the air, the angle of the sun and the way the light is refracted.
Of course you can’t see the horizon for the trees but I’ll bet this was a complete arc from one point to the other.
