The Fab is springing up this spring with a fabulous show: new work by Tristin Lowe, Virgil Marti, Peter Rose and Ryan Trecartin. Trecartin is showing the new film he debuted at the New Museum’s Younger Than Jesus show that everyone is gushing over. Lowe is debuting a new white felt piece, Mocha Dick, take that Starbucks! All Philadelphia artists with national and international reputations.

Bring your hankies.  This is the End is a group show about the downfall of western civ and life as we know it.  Here’s who’s in the show: Jon Bobby Benjamin, Ellie Brown, Justin Bursk, Jen Coluzzi, Lew Death, Conor Fields, Juan Garcia, Jenna Hannum, Morgan Hill, Terrence Laragione, Max Maddox, Amanda Miller, Christine Mladic, James Munson, Erin M. And, check out this promising new gallery–Mount Airy Contemporary, in its innaugural show. Recent transplants to Philly, Colin and Andrea Keefe are trying to get something going in their neighborhood. We recognize some of the names in the group show and have high hopes.

Ignite Philly slide slam

And now for something different. Design, commerce and art mix at Johnny Brenda’s for quickie talks — a dozen or more — with slides by web savvy local and not so local eager beavers of the internet. Before the event, don’t miss the Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament hosted by Philadelphia RPS City League

Ignite Philly is organized by some of our favorite local techie nerds…Geoff DiMasi of P’unk Avenue and the Junto, Roz Duffy of Barcamp Philly and Refresh Philly, David Clayton of the Klein Art Gallery, Far McKon of Hackerspaces.org and Vanja Buvac of the Hactory.
