Nose Bleed Chapter 5


A black and white multi-paneled comic by Derick Jones titled Nose Bleed. This installment is part five. The story opens with a pumpkin on a fence with someone's photo attached and the words, "Later that day." The following panel exclaims "BOOM!!!" as the pumpkin explodes. Following a boy with dreaded hair and a bloody nose clenches his fists and exclaims, "Yes!" The next panel shows the man speaking to another man with black hair and an open collar shirt, they are in a trailer park, the first says, "Brett and his goons come anywhere near me this summer they're getting popped!" The other man responds, "Nah man. Way too violent." The following panel shows a closeup on both their faces, the man with the open collar begins, "We do something like that and it makes us no better than them. Plus you're way too kind to pull that off." Proceeding to a row of three vertical panels. The man with the open collar shirt continue to go back and forth with the dreaded man, "We gotta embarrass them. That way they feel how we feel." The other responds, "Great so we're gonna take the high road some more?" the other "Not exactly. We'll think of something." In the middle panel the collared shirt man walks away from the other man in his backyard. The man with dreaded hair asks, "Where you going? Let's think of something now." The other responds, "To Tilda's house." In the final panel of the row the man can be seen walking down the alleyway between houses, the dreaded man yells from his backyard, "Great, no revenge and I'm the third wheel now?" The man walking responds, "Haha! Later dude." In the next panel the front of a house is shown with someone trying to enter, it's night as indicated by the text, "Later that night." The next panel shows two people sitting on the sidewalk outside an empty lot between buildings. One says to the other, "Gary! Thank God it's you!" In the next panel we see the people speaking, one a female on the ground grabbing her knee. Gary says, "Stacey? What're you doing out her?" She responds, "Dude I totally goofed and uh twisted my uh ankle! Can you look at it?" The next four panels are backgrounded black, isolating the figures. Gary leans toward Stacey and says, "Not much I can do. Why don't we call your parents and they can come-" Stacey interrupts, "I totally would but uhmm. My phone! It's like so dead. Just like sit with me til it feels better please." The next panel the tip of a bat appears out of the dark, Gary says, "I can sit for a little bit but are you sure there's no one we can call?" The following panel the bat is shown drawn back with hands gripping it, Stacey is heard saying, "Dude my parents would totally kill me if they knew I was out here this late." the next panel blood rushes from Gary's head as a "CRAK" is heard.
Part two of Nose Bleed Part 5. Gary has just been assaulted with a bat, the first panel shows Gary bleeding on the ground in fetal position. A group of boys are gathered around, one holding a bat, two of them gasping, and the first in a defiant position saying, "Got ya bitch!" the bat holder says, "Damn right. I don't know how you did that witch craft shit." Continuing into a black background closeup of the bat wielder saying, "But I'm gonna keep hitting you til you tell me everything." The following panel shows Gary at the edge of a bloody bat grasping his head, the man continues, "Oh what's wrong ching chong? I knock the Engrish out of you?" The next panel taking up the horizontal width of the page shows Gary, bloody, and choking, "Uh!" "Uh - Uh!" The three boys and girl are shown panicked in the next panel. Beginning with a boy, "Oh fuck! Is that his brain hanging out?" Stacey says, "We gotta help him out" The next boy, "Fuck no! I'm not losing my baseball scholarship for this loser." The next, "Fuck em. Let's bail." The following panel shows the edge of a nearby building starting to crumble and crack, someone says, "We gotta at least move his body!" someone else, "And leave finger prints? No Way!" The next three panels show the sequence of multiple houses and an excavator exploding their fragile pieces of brick and glass. The kids surrounded by the popping of broken windows each say, "What. The. Fuck!!!" The final panel shows the bloody body of Gary his hands commanding an aura around them as the rocks and blood near him levitate indicating his responsibility for the destruction around him.
