Art 21: Season 3 Coming Up

sponsored

Delaware Center for Contemporary Arts sent out a mass email announcing the public screening at their facility of the new Art 21 Season 3. Who knew there was going to be a Season 3 of that wonderful PBS art series? That’s great news.

Here’s the list of the artists participating: (we’ve written about a number of them, some of them at length — see index)
Laylah Ali, Ida Applebroog, Cai Guo-Qiang, Ellen Gallagher, Arturo Herrera, Oliver Herring, Roni Horn, Teresa Hubbard/Alexander Birchler, Mike Kelley, Josiah McElheny, Matthew Ritchie (pictured), Susan Rothenberg, Jessica Stockholder, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Richard Tuttle, Fred Wilson, and Krzysztof Wodiczko.

And here are the themes that will weave them together: Power, Memory, Structures and Play.

The shows will air on PBS TV on four consecutive Friday nights beginning Sept 16. But the DCCA is jumping the queue by showing them on different dates and times. To wit,

PBS TV: Friday nights: September 16, 23, 30, and October 7 at 10 PM (EST)

DCCA screenings
: September 7 at Noon, September 9 at 7:00pm, October 19 at Noon, and November 2 at Noon.

WHYY TV Philly’s PBS station doesn’t have its schedule complete for September (they go to Sept. 11 at the moment) so who knows whether they’ll carry it. Anyone with inside information about WHYY’s whimsical schedule, please stand forward and spill.

For more information on the DCCA events call Holly Bennett at 302.656.6466. The DCCA is located at 200 South Madison Street Wilmington, DE 19801.
