Dialogue and Transcription

In a 6 panel comic from the Socialist Grocery Series by Oli Knowles, Sebastian and Maggie talk about Clay Aiken with a Lyft Driver.

In the top left panel, Sebastian and Maggie are sitting in the back seat. of the car. Sebastian narrates, “Maggie & I took a Lyft home this week since it was so cold.”

In the top right panel, the perspective is flipped to show their masked faces. Sebastian is on the right, and Maggie is on the left. The Lyft driver’s phone announces, “Turn right at Aiken Circle.”

In the middle left panel, Maggie remarks to Sebastian, “Wow, they named a circle after Clay Aiken? He didn’t even win.”

In the middle right panel, Sebastian and Maggie are both holding tote bags in their laps and looking out the window. Sebastian muses, “I wonder if every major city has a traffic circle named after an American Idol runner-up.”

In the bottom left panel, the Lyft driver tries to correct them: “Guys, Clay Aiken won.” Their cap is covering most of their face. Only the back of their head is visible, so it’s hard to tell if they’re being serious.

In the bottom right panel, Maggie counters, “Ok, he absolutely didn’t. Is this a hidden camera show?” Sebastian and Maggie are both surprised.
